Fox Hills Resort, Michicot

We spent the weekend in Michicot with the Recob family and had a really nice time! On Friday we played at the park, ordered in fish and went to the pool for a little while! Saturday we went for a walk along the Marinars Trail (right on Lake Michigan between Two Rivers and Manitowoc). It was nice to enjoy the sunshine ona beautiful day. We got back to the resort and spent some time swimming and relaxing in the afternoon. Randy took Maddi and Logan mini-golfing after playing 18 holes with his father earlier in the afternoon. Our evening included games and more swimming, along with a birthday celebration for Kaitlyn. Sunday was more swimming and another big breakfast. It was nice and relaxing and so much fun to spend time with everyone!

The Place Where Dead Animals Go

Life is always more exciting when seen through the eyes of a five year old boy and so our story begins. Tonight, like most nights, I got home from work and began making dinner. Logan and Cooper wanted to go outside and hunt for worms so I let them. About 10 minutes later Logan comes into the kitchen and said, "Hey mom I found something which is dead." I was putting potatoes together for dinner and casually looked up only to find Logan with a dead bird in the tupperware container he was using to catch worms. Needless to say, I was quite suprised and really didn't know what to say. I mean how many times do you find yourself in a situation like this...we don't get many dead birds in our house. I tried to pull myself together and then Logan asked,"Mom, what are we going to do with it." I told him I wasn't really sure what we should do with it. He then asked me, "Maybe we should put it in the place where dead things go." By this he was referring to a little spot on the side of our driveway where we throw things that are dead or may not make it much longer (a bat we found in the garage last winter, a tadpole, other worms that have seen better days...etc). What a character! Well, the bird did join the others. After that he wondered what would happen to the bird and my comment was that another animal would probably come and eat it. He wondered which animal...a cat? I said, yes maybe a cat. Then he said,"but mom we don't have any cats on Thornapple Lane. Can we bring it to Matt and Cara's, they have 2 cats?" Too funny!
